What is the Consortium?
It is an independent body consisting of members across the Cultural Spectrum. It is guided by the Executive who are elected at AGM from volunteers.
"What does culture mean to me? Culture gives meaning to places. For me at various times of my 35 years in Portsmouth that's been fishing for crabs at Canoe lake, music at the bandstand, that lovely, nostalgic 1950's room in the City Museum, a musical at the Kings or a play at the New Theatre Royal, the Mural at the Strand, an exhibition at the Cathedral. Culture is the social glue that holds us together both as communities and as individuals. Let it wither away and we fall apart; nurture it and we flourish.
My challenge is to support those things that sustain cultural identity and make the changes needed to maximise the opportunities that Culture can bring to each and everyone in the city. "
