Committee Biographies

Jonathan Fost (Secretary) After finishing degrees in Physics at Portsmouth, moved into Marketing, Corporate Marketing Communications and PR. After roles as Marketing Manager and E-Business Manager, has now got his own company focusing on Digital Marketing and Social Media. Member of several Amateur Dramatics groups for the past 10 years has appeared on all the stages in Portsmouth.

Stephen Morgan Stephen joined the Cultural Consortium Executive in May 2006. Portsmouth born and bred, following a degree at Bristol University and MA in British Politics from the University of London, he has worked in a variety of roles including within the Chief Executive's Strategy Unit, in Community Services managing a number of the city's playschemes and facilitating the training for playworkers at Portsmouth City Council. Throughout his university career he undertook a number of internships with national political organisations, including as a researcher for the think tank the Fabian Society. Stephen comes from a family proud of its commitment to getting involved in its community, and for its voluntary work in play and youth services. He is passionate about the huge contribution culture can bring to strengthening communities and improving peoples' quality of life Since August 2005, Stephen has been the Project Manager in the Community Involvement, Empowerment and Development corporate team at the city council, managing projects to disseminate best practice and embed community involvement across Portsmouth and leading a small support team for the city's 14 neighbourhood forums. He's a Chair of Governors at a local Junior School, a member of the Portsmouth Society and includes in his interests watching films and attending art galleries. 

John Phillipson (Acting Chair) Studied Sculpture and Ceramics at Portsmouth College of Art and Design and Sheffield University in the early 60s'. Worked in Portsmouth Schools for 30 years, ran the Art and Design Department at Portsmouth College until 1997, now a freelance sculptor. On the executive board of the Hampshire Sculpture Trust, a member of the Southern Ceramic Group and the Southsea Shakespeare Actors.

Steve Pitt (Treasurer) Born and bred in Portsmouth, was co-director at the New Theatre Royal before the appointment of Mark Courtice. Steve has been involved in event co-ordination for local brewery’s organising events and is involved with the City of Festivals Group.

Peter Wainwright 
As Director of Askyra Ltd, is a management consultant and facilitator who helps organisations to thrive by being more creative, innovative and improving their strategy. He is part of the government’s Creative Partnerships for schools scheme, and a part-time tutor for the Open University Business School.  He is passionate about improving cultural life, especially how wellbeing is affected by the built environment. A member of the consortium since 2004, and was at the centre of developing the Vision for Portsmouth. Hobbies include tennis, drawing, walking and has several years experience in theatre backstage.

Anna Potten
Anna Potten  is an artist /designer and  co- founder of Dot to Dot Arts wwwdottodot.org.uk . Before this she was  a member of  Mobile Arts Company  in Salisbury which ran a wide range of creative projects in  rural Wiltshire . Having previously graduating in Textles and Fine Art from Leicester Polytechnic Anna worked in Design and Education at Leicester Museums before becoming Craft Worker in Residents at Saiisbury Arts Centre .Here she first encountered participatory arts practice . This being the closets to her childhood dream of " making the world a fairer place though better designed curtains for all " she took to it immediately.  Also involved in grassroots community action and multicultural issues she has lived in Somerstown for 25 years  with her partner, a writer and educator and their 3 sons who are writers, performers and film makers . 

Eimear Blunnie
Eimear is a final year property development undergraduate at the University of Portsmouth. She is interested in how culture can contribute to the regeneration of places, and is currently undertaking research on the benefits of cultural quarters. She has been an active member of the Consortium for almost a year.
